Overview
Our Overnight Walking Safari has been thoughtfully designed for animal lovers and travellers who wish to experience the desert without riding a camel, while discovering the traditional way local camel men journey across the Thar.
Walk through changing desert landscapes, from rocky stretches and quiet wilderness to sweeping sand dunes. Accompanied by experienced local guides, the journey offers an intimate glimpse into desert life before spending the night beneath the stars in warm and comfortable bedding.
Before beginning your walk towards the dunes, you’ll also visit Khaba and a natural oasis that remains an important source of water for local birds, wildlife and nearby desert communities.
Itinerary
Day 1
- The walking safari departs from Jaisalmer by jeep at around 1:30 PM (from March 15 to October 14, it starts at 3 PM).
- On the way into the desert, you will visit Khaba and a natural oasis.
- Meet your friendly local guides before beginning your journey through the desert.
- Walk for around 90 minutes through the wilderness, following trails traditionally used by local camel men.
- Arrive at the dunes, watch the beautiful sunset and enjoy freshly prepared evening snacks.
- Later, gather around the bonfire and savour a delicious traditional dinner.
- Settle into warm, comfortable bedding and sleep beneath the open desert sky.
Day 2
- Next morning, wake up in the peaceful desert and watch the sun rise over the dunes.
- Enjoy a fresh and wholesome breakfast after sunrise.
- Continue your desert walk for around 90 minutes with your local guide.
- Return to Jaisalmer by jeep, arriving at approximately 11 AM.

- Jeep Backup Support Enjoy the desert walk at your own pace, with a support jeep available whenever you feel tired or prefer to ride to the campsite.
- Khaba Fort Khaba Fort is a ruined citadel built around the 13th century. It was the home to the kingdom of Paliwal Brahmins.

- Restrooms There are no restrooms in the desert, and you will have to pee or poop in the open desert.
- Pickup & Drop We offer free pickup and drop from the bus stand (ISBT), railway station and hotels within the Jaisalmer city.
- Shower & Rest You can take a shower a grab a little rest both before and after the camel safari at our hotel in Jaisalmer.
- Luggage Storage You can also keep your luggage safely during your safari at the locker room / store in our hotel.
