This tour has been carefuly curated to offer a unique experience of exploring the town on foot while treating your taste-buds with delicious mouth-watering meals throughout the day. These mouth-watering meals will be served in the finest restaurants and at some famous street food corners across the town.

In this tour, you will not only visit the key attractions in Jaisalmer and try delicious cuisines, but will also get plenty of opportunities to interact with the locals and understand more about the culture of Jaisalmer.

Itinerary

Day 1

  • The culinary tour starts at around 8 am in the morning.
  • You will be greeted in the morning by our friendly and professional guide who will escort you to the Trotters Office where you will have tea and the famous ‘dal pakwaan’.
  • After this you will head towards the Fort and visit the famous Chandraprabhu Jain Temple, Lakshminath Temple, the Surya Dev Temple and the Cannon Point.
  • After visiting the fort, you will be walking towards the Salim Singh ki Haveli, which is one of the oldest & most popular haveli in town.
  • After visiting the haveli, you will walk across the street to have a glass of lassi (traditional buttermilk).
  • After this, you will head towards the Patwon ki Haveli which is another archaeological marvel.
  • After visiting the Patwon ki Haveli, you will then visit a Jain Temple situated within the Jain Dharamshala.
  • Later, you will head towards the Hanuman Chowk to have a delicious vegetarian lunch that will be comprising of Dal Bhati Churma (a popular local delicacy).
  • After this, you will be visiting the Vyas Chattri, an assemblage of golden sandstones, which stands as an edifice of Rajasthani architecture.
  • This will be followed by a visit to a local ice cream parlour where you can have some authentic fruit cream or yummy ice cream.
  • After having a refreshing ice-cream, you will head towards the Government Museum where you can ponder upon some artefacts that will give you a bird’s eye view of the history of Jaisalmer.
  • Soon, you will head towards the famous Gadisar Lake, where you can enjoy boating at Sunset. Here, you will be served a refreshing cup of freshly brewed coffee at Adonai Coffee, a famous street side coffee shop in Jaisalmer.
  • After having a cup of coffee, you will visit an old Shiva Temple adjoining the lake to witness a mesmerizing aarti (a prayer).
  • After the aarti, you will head towards the Fort, where you will enjoy a delicious dinner with a beautiful view of the fort and the city beyond.
  • After dinner, you will receive a box of ‘Ghotua Laddoos’ (a very famous sweet dish) as a complimentary gift and then we will drop you to your preferred location within Jaisalmer.

Key Highlights

  • Jaisalmer Fort The Jaisalmer Fort or the Sonar Killa was built in 1155 AD by Raja Rawal jaisal and it is the only fort in the world that is still inhabited by people.
  • Havelis You will be visiting some of the most beautiful havelis of the rich merchants of the begone era which boasts of intricate carvings and a lot more.
  • Shri Jain Parshvanath Shwetambar Temple This temple is built within the Jain Dharamshala in Jaisalmer and is constructed in a Dilwara temple style and is dedicated to Lord Parshvanatha.
  • Vyas Chattri Rajasthani-style sandstone cenotaph of the sage Vyas, who wrote the Mahabharata epic. It has beautiful memorials and serves as a cremation ground for the Brahmins.
  • Gadisar Lake It is a beautiful man-made lake which was built in 1156 AD by King Rawal Jaisal. It also has many chhatris and shrines of hindu Gods & Goddesses. You can enjoy boating here and swimming in the lake is prohibited.
  • Shiva Temple, Gadisar This is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and lies on the bank of the Gadisar Lake in Jaisalmer.
  • Mukhteshwar Temple, Gadisar This ancient temple is also situated near the banks of the Gadisar lake and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the almighty.
  • Transfers You will mostly walk in the tour, but at times, you will be in for a tuk tuk ride, jeep ride or a bike ride to go from point A to point B in some areas.
  • Drinks & Meals Being a local, we have shortlisted some of the finest food joints in Jaisalmer to offer you an authentic culinary experience.
